Praying with the Body

Be Where Your Body Is: A Prayerful Invitation During Church

Feasting on Fruit: Nine Days of Welcoming the Holy Spirit
(a meditation on Galatians 5:22-23 with the body, see postures in slideshow)

Juggling and Other Spiritual Practices for a Workaholic

A little something to try:
If you're used to praying with your head down, pray with your head up. If you fold your hands together, open them.  If you are used to being still while praying, walk or dance.  If you sit, try lying down or kneeling.  Notice how a different posture affects your prayer.

Boat Time with Jesus: An Audio Guided Prayer

Lent: A Yearly Reminder of the Daily Call to Come Home 7 Audio Guided Prayers

A little something to try:
After a hectic day of being with people, Jesus invited his followers to come with Him to a quiet place all by themselves to rest awhile (Mark 6:31).  Sometimes it got interrupted but rest and relaxation were a necessary part of their busy ministry.  Close your eyes and imagine the place Jesus takes you to rest.  Take in the scene with all of your senses.  Give yourself permission to be there in your mind's eye for as long as you need or until you're interrupted (then come back again later)!

Praying with a Community

Week Two: Matthew 3:1-12
Week Three: Matthew 11:2-11
Week Four: Matthew 1:18-25

Boat-time: Finding Refuge at Church Council

A little something to try:
If you're praying with others or leading prayer for a group, take your time!  Especially if you're an internal processor, there's no need to feel pressured to speak right away.  You may even say to the group, "Let's take a few moments to breathe." or "Let's begin with a little silence."  A few breaths will give you the space to receive the words that need to be spoken (and many times it's not many!).
