What Others are Saying... |
It has been said to me on so many occasions of late, that I am filled with grace and if this is true, I owe that to God who spoke to me through Kasey. I have so many marked moments of a changed heart it is sometimes overwhelming to me.
Chris L., stay-at-home mother of 4 children, Bothell, WA
I first came to Kasey because of the combination of her training in spiritual direction and the way she integrates the Enneagram into her work since that tool has been so powerful for me in my life. She is kind, warm, and deeply insightful, always bringing me back to a place to listening for what God is saying. She walked with me in an open-minded and open-hearted way as I made some very major changes in my life, both professionally and personally. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking a grounded spiritual director for support and guidance.

Spiritual direction has become such an important, life-giving, and grounding part of my life. It is a time that I set aside to intentionally engage my spirituality with a trusted mentor, to slow down, and to get help in seeing the mystical and spiritual dynamics of my ordinary days. I have loved working with Kasey Hitt to reflect on God's movement in my life, receive guided prayer, and listen together to hear the Spirit's prompting. The space has been so affirming, deep, healing, and guiding for me-- especially as I was able to share my frustration with patriarchy in Christianity and Kasey has given me wisdom, expansion, and guidance to help me connect with the Divine Feminine. I recommend it to all!

I've partnered with Kasey for a number of years to provide spiritual direction for the youth workers in my Youth Ministry Coaching Program. I love working with Kasey -- she is excellent at her craft and easy to work with. Every one of my coaching program participants who have met with her over the years has experienced growth as a result of their time with her. I'm a big Kasey fan!

When I went to spiritual direction for the first time, I was quite nervous because I had no idea what to expect. Kasey made me feel comfortable and I left feeling a deeper connection to God. I began a monthly session of spiritual direction. When I went through a very hard time in my life, Kasey walked with me through what I now call a "wilderness season." Her ability to help me focus on God reminded me that God was indeed with me and working in my life, even though I was experiencing a very hard situation. I emerged from that season of life with a deeper connection with God and a more integrated understanding of myself thanks to spiritual direction with Kasey.

Gentle, insightful, wonderful. Kasey helps me to let go and be playful with God again.

Kasey’s ministry continues to impact and gift our church in deep and lasting ways. Regularly, I refer people to Kasey who I know need a guide on the journey. I know when I do, they will find a trusted Spiritual Director who will meet them where they are and gently guide. Kasey offers silent retreats for the congregation as well as our staff and leadership. Without these I know we would be a more tired and cluttered people. Simply put, Kasey and her ministry of Spiritual Direction is woven into the fabric of our church providing safe and quiet spaces for people to grow and heal.

I had come to the point in my ministry where I was dealing with significant burn out, and was not sure if I wanted to keep trying to do ministry as a church pastor. It felt like I poured out more and more of myself, and was seldom, if ever, replenished. My time with Kasey was a time of needed refreshment, restoration, and replenishment! I was helped to fall in love afresh with the Lord, and with the ministry. I think that any person going through some of my same struggles would be blessed to share with Kasey and this great ministry!
W. Antoni Sinkfield, Senior Pastor, AME Church, Nashville, TN
I began meeting with Kasey as I first started exploring God’s call to become a pastor later in life. She walked this journey with me for three years, helping me discern direction, timing, and authenticity. Her encouragement helped propel me forward when I became impatient or discouraged. Her insight helped with my discernment about which path this call would take. As a pastor, her guidance was even more valuable as we explored theology, self-care and growth, contemplative disciplines, and remaining grounded. She is the perfect partner for this journey and I am grateful that she walks the path with me.

I began meeting with Kasey when I was going through a difficult time in my life and her guidance was a life-line for me. I tell people often that deciding to go to spiritual direction was one of the best decisions I've ever made. No matter where you are at with your journey, Kasey holds space for you. She guides you gently and walks beside you to discern where God is showing up. Kasey is wise, genuine and full of God's spirit. I appreciate her willingness to be fully present and her generosity in sharing her wisdom. I have grown in my faith, better understood myself and more fully embraced the mystery of God because of my time with Kasey and I'm very thankful for that!

Kasey Hitt is a delight to go on silent retreats with! I’m so grateful to have found her. She makes it easy to enter into the silence with God. She has a special knack for finding just the right places to go that are welcoming and safe. Going on her retreats is a balm for my soul. They are like little islands in time where I can go and restore myself by getting closer to God. I have made her retreats an essential part of my spiritual practice. I think of them as preventive maintenance for my soul.

I've been on a few silent retreats that Kasey has put together and have found them to be amazing. My weekends seem like a blur with the busyness that life has become. The weekends where I attend a silent retreat actually feel like a weekend. I usually go from Saturday morning until Saturday afternoon, but the opportunity to just stop and relax and spend time meditating, napping, or taking in nature makes the whole weekend slow down. They also make me realize how tired I am and how necessary it is to take time for myself. I would recommend a silent retreat for everyone. I was a little uncomfortable the first time I attended one as I didn't know what to expect, but now I wish I could attend one every month.

Kasey was our spiritual direction consultant at Cedar Cross United Methodist Church near Seattle, Washington during 2005-2006. She came to us with a vision and passion to help churches go deeper spiritually through one-on-one and group direction and learning. It was a "heart-opening" experience to have her among us and gave our leaders and people new keys into their own spiritual journeys, as well as the spiritual journey of our whole community of faith. I recommend her gentle, wise, resourceful and quiet presence to you. She has a wonderful way of helping to open the door of the soul.

I first signed up for spiritual direction with Kasey when she was completing her Masters of Divinity at Mars Hill Graduate School in Seattle (now The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology). Our local church worked with Kasey to create an internship that would help her complete the requirements for her degree. At first, most of us signed up as a “courtesy” and an “experiment.” Within a couple of sessions, I knew that I would make an effort to continue with spiritual direction for the rest of my life. Making a space for silence, using imagery to better understand my relationship with God, inserting myself into the Scripture through meditation and visualization, and opening all of my senses to God’s presence has been enriching for my faith. After just a few sessions, I found myself removing excess noise and stimulation from my life. As a self-professed NPR-junkie, I found myself turning off the radio and simply driving to work in silence. In the evening, before bedtime, rather than “cramming in more study,” I often meditate and focus on the images we created through direction. And over the years, I have become far more appreciative of the spaces and places where I am most likely to encounter God and less worried about the places and spaces where I “should.” When Kasey left Seattle, I wondered what might become of my proclamation to be in direction “for the rest of my life.” Luckily, Kasey has offered her services through internet-based formats. While the first few sessions may have seemed a little different, I have looked forward to our monthly sessions for a number of years. An unexpected benefit of Skype is that I can meet Kasey “wherever” (e.g., at home, at the office) and wearing “whatever." Only rarely does traffic make me late!

I thoroughly enjoyed my spiritual direction time with Kasey. She taught me a new, personal way to worship, and to simply be in touch with God. She is patient and helped to guide me along my own path instead of forcing a path upon me. Kasey is professional and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend her spiritual direction for anyone seeking a closer walk with God.

I received one year of spiritual direction from Kasey in her role as Spiritual Director of Cedar Cross United Methodist church, and attended a silent retreat which was planned, coordinated, and led by Kasey. I found her to be an intuitive, insightful leader who had an in-depth knowledge of Scripture, and an ability to listen deeply and respond effectively to others. She was able to make the scriptures come alive with the sights and sounds of the times in which the passages were written, and able to focus on their relevance for today. The individual spiritual direction helped me to more fully experience God's constant presence and guidance. I felt Kasey was also effective in strengthening the church community's spiritual discernment through the retreat, through occasional sermons, and through her work with individuals.
Kristine Cutter, RN BSN
I met with Kasey during a transitional period in my life, when I was seeking direction from God about vocational and personal issues. Kasey was a wonderful and wise guide along the path. I valued her gentle demeanor, her insight and maturity, her appreciation of mystery, and her calm assurance of God’s faithfulness throughout the process. I can honestly say that I sensed God’s presence among us on several occasions. Kasey naturally possesses a listening heart, attentive both to God and to those persons with whom she ministers.
Marcia Webb, M.Div., Ph.D. Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, Seattle Pacific University
Before Kasey went off to seminary and before she learned about spiritual direction in a formal sense, I observed her living out the principles of spiritual direction as our youth pastor. Each year Kasey would take a few students aside and spend extra time with them, helping them grow deeper in their walk with God. These students blossomed under her tutelage and are more grounded today than they would have been without her. This is not only something Kasey did for others but something she sought for herself. While on staff she asked me to assist her in finding a mentor who could pour into her life. Ironically, the very person who mentored her for years is now trained in spiritual direction herself. The fruit Kasey is bearing in this much needed area of ministry was being born before she even entered the field. I can only imagine what it will be in the years to come!
Ron Watts, Senior Pastor, La Croix United Methodist Church, Cape Girardeau, Missouri
I met Kasey during her last couple years of youth ministry. My real re-entry into church life was through her invitation. I was 17 and wrestling with spiritual and life things. She walked alongside me and helped me see how God was with me (she continues to do this). She demonstrated the kind of wholeness that can exist in a church community. I've known her nearly half my life and have kept in touch all this time while we both moved to different places (even while I lived overseas during college). Now as an adult, I am again living near her and her family and continuing to learn how God speaks and moves in ways I hadn't quite realized. A silent retreat at St. Meinrad became available during a major life transition and it was just what I needed to reconnect to my own soul. I can only imagine all Kasey has to offer those that go to her for spiritual direction, reiki, or attend any classes she leads. I have and continue to benefit greatly from the wisdom and grace Kasey offers through her own deepening relationship with God.

I've always been intrigued by the world of dreams, but I never really did more than ponder them on my own until I began dreamwork with Kasey. In this environment, I was able to more fully consider what messages my dreams might be conveying to me. And in a group setting, I felt comfortable and encouraged by other dreamers to look more deeply into this world that all of us encounter, but don't always consider.

I have been receiving Reiki from Kasey and I absolutely love it! This experience has helped me to look at moments in my life in a different way. Whether they be positive or negative, they can be used to help find healing and wholeness. I’ve worked through many things during our sessions, and have been able to forget about some of the more physical pains that used to seem so persistent. One of the biggest things that has been a real life changer is when Kasey is administering laying on of hands I feel such an amazing calmness. That is so important for me to experience since on many occasions I feel like I am a human manifestation of anxiety. I’ve found that Reiki is my reset button, and Kasey has such a calm spirit that makes the experience even better. I’m not sure that I will ever find the words that perfectly describe my feelings during Reiki but I can assure you that they are all the most positive words.

I have known Kasey Hitt for over a decade and highly recommend her for Spiritual Direction and Intercessory Prayer with laying on of hands. Kasey has been my Spiritual Director for the past several years. She is a deeply spiritual, thoughtful, patient listener/guide. She invites me to sit in God's presence for awhile on a regular basis--to stop, breathe, listen, and receive God's gifts in every day. She offers a variety of lenses that take me deeper into my own life journey and offer me an array of ways to be connected to the divine. It is a holy experience to share sacred space with Kasey on a regular basis. Her Intercessory Prayer with laying on of hands also offers the calming care, comfort, peace and often release of burdens as she serves as my companion on the journey of life.
Rev. Jo Bentley-Reece, Deacon in The United Methodist Church, Reiki Master
Spiritual Direction with Kasey Hitt has allowed me to ask questions and search for answers as I learn to give myself wholly to God. Kasey helps me to grow in the knowledge of Christ's love for me and presses me forward to the life He is calling me to. With Kasey's guidance I have no fear of falling. She helps me find my path by listening to the things God has placed on my heart and gently prods me to take another step closer to the strength and wisdom that complete faith in His abundant love brings.

While working on my Masters degree in Spiritual Formation, we were told to get a spiritual director for a semester. That was back in 2011. From that time, I have met almost every month with Kasey Hitt for spiritual direction. Spiritual direction is a tool to help me be the person God created me to be. Through guided prayer, lectio divina, silence, centering prayer and other activities, I have gained a knowledge of who God is, what His role is and how He is working in my life. I have grown immensely aware of the presence of God in my daily activities and quiet times. God’s word continues to be living and Kasey knows the Scriptures well and because of this the Spirit allows her to choose the words to read that best edify. I would definitely not be where I am today spiritually if I had not been given the gift of spiritual direction. My time spent with Kasey each month is a great time. It is a time of friendship molded and strengthen by the Holy Spirit.

I met Kasey when I was drawn by God to one of her silent retreats. I have always been drawn to retreats, but was unsure of a silent one! For those that know me, this is not one of my gifts (silence). Kasey is truly a source of God's strength and beauty. Little did I know that I was going to really need her retreats and spiritual direction when my younger brother committed suicide on Mother's Day 2009. During this time, Kasey was not only doing retreats but leading the congregation in prayer with silence. Oh, how I needed God's reassurance of His presence. Since that time, I have taken many retreats and have taken advantage of her spiritual guidance which has been a huge blessing. Knowing God is with us but actually feeling His presence, is not always the same. I look forward to many more moments spent with this true beautiful, gift from God who leads me to be still and feel His presence and love. I recommend silent retreats as well as spiritual guidance for everyone who wants to really have a deep relationship with our Savior.

I had been thinking about spiritual direction for awhile but struggled with what spiritual direction was and was not. What I found through Kasey is an openness and generosity of spirit bringing one closer to God. I am learning to quiet my mind chatter and get in
touch with the Holy Spirit. I am extremely grateful for Kasey's continued guidance.

I recommend silent retreats as well as spiritual guidance for everyone who wants to really have a deep relationship with our Savior.
Marsha Carrizzo, senior child of God
I had been thinking about spiritual direction for awhile but struggled with what spiritual direction was and was not. What I found through Kasey is an openness and generosity of spirit bringing one closer to God. I am learning to quiet my mind chatter and get in
touch with the Holy Spirit. I am extremely grateful for Kasey's continued guidance.
